Tracking the 2010/11 Allstate Coaching Incentives

As you know, Allstate is sponsoring the 2010/11 Allstate Coaching Incentives in the Chicago Debate League this season. In addition to providing coaching incentives to the Top 20 schools in tournament participation at the end of the season (1 – 10: $350 per school, 11 – 20: $150 per school), Allstate is providing $100 coaching incentives to schools for every 6 tournament debaters more they have participating after T3 this season, relative to their number of tournament debaters after T3 last season.

The Allstate Coaching Incentives Tracking Form shows how many tournament debaters each school had after T3 last year, and how many they have so far going into T3 this year. (It also has a sheet for each school, with three graphs: (a) total tournament participants last year versus tournament participants so far this year, (b) tournament participants after T3 last year versus tournament participants so far this year, and (c) average number of participants per tournament last year versus this year.) From these numbers you can see how close your school is to receiving coaching incentives, going into T3.

So, just to pick a few illustrative examples, more or less at random.

Collins had 17 tournament participants after T3 last year, and has 11 so far this year. If it sends 12 debaters (6 teams) to T3, it will have 23 after T3 this year, 6 more than after T3 last year, and thus it will receive a $100 coaching incentive. If it sends 9 debaters to T3, it will have 3 more than after T3 last year, and thus it will receive a $50 coaching incentive (we are using this 3 debater, $50 increment, after T3).

Hope had 23 tournament participants after T3 last year, and has 20 so far this year. If it sends 9 (or 10) debaters to T3, it will have 29 (or 30) after T3 this year, 6 (or 7) more than after T3 last year, and thus it will receive a $100 coaching incentive. If it sends 15 (or 16) debaters to T3, it will have 12 (or 13) more than after T3 last year, and thus it will receive a $200 coaching incentive.

School of the Arts had only 4 tournament participants after T3 last year, and has 21 so far this year, a difference of 17, thus it has already received $200 in coaching incentives. If it sends 7 debaters to T3, it will receive another $200, 10 debaters $250, 13 debaters $300, 16 debaters (8 teams) $350.

Every school is included on the Allstate Coaching Incentives Tracking Form so check out where you are in the Allstate Coaching Incentives program, headed into T3, and encourage as many of your students as you can — and maybe some will be brand new to debate, it’s not at all too late for that! — to come out to Tournament Three this weekend.
