Announcing CPS/Summer Quest University Institute Scholarships

Chicago Public Schools and its Summer Quest office are offering two scholarships to summer university institutes this summer. Two scholarship recipients will receive $1,500 apiece plus airfare toward their summer university debate institute costs.

Only Title I students are eligible for these scholarships. The applying student must be Title I eligible, regardless of the percentage of Title I students at their school (so a student from a relatively low Title I percentage school can apply if she is Title I eligible herself, and conversely a student from a relatively high Title I percentage school cannot apply if he is not Title I eligible himself).

The application process for these scholarships is as follows. Applicants should complete the attached application form, all three pages, and submit it to Forrest Sumlar by email (forrestsumlar@resources.chicagodebates.org) by Monday, May 9. Applicants need to have applied to their summer university debate institute of choice before submitting their scholarship application in to us.

Winners of this CPS/Summer Quest scholarship can attend many very high-quality summer university debate institutes essentially free, or at relatively low cost. Consult the CDL’s excellent list of summer university debate institutes, many of which the CDL has negotiated favorable discount terms with, to identify the right summer debate institute for your scholarship applicant.
