Final 2010/11 Tournament Reporting Notebook
We have produced the 2010/11 season’s final Tournament Reporting Notebook. As always, you should review it carefully, more so because it reports on the full season, August, 2010 – May, 2011.
The overall story of the season is a tremendously positive one. The Chicago Debate League grew in student participation by 16% in SY2011 over SY2010 — by 22% relative to the Allstate Baseline (the number of tournament debaters the CDL would have had in SY2010 without the CY2010 Allstate Premier Sponsorship).
The Chicago Debate League has expanded by an extraordinary 70% over the past three years, from a starting point in SY2008 that was an 11 year-old, mature, and already-large League. The CDL is 70% larger and more robust today than it was in May, 2008: 37% expansion in SY2009 (over SY2008), 7% expansion in SY2010, and 16% expansion in SY2011. (This equates to a 70%, not 60%, larger debate league in SY2011 over its size in SY2008.) A great accomplishment for all of us, most especially the coaches, who are recruiting more debater, retaining more debaters, and impacting more students through competitive academic debate. Congratulations!
Here are the final lists of leaders in three key tournament participation categories.
