Illinois Law and Leadership Institute for Graduating 8th Graders
We have an announcement here from the Illinois Law and Leadership Institute. It’s relevant to CMSDL graduating 8th graders, and is directly connected to a core theme of the CDL and the CMSDL: the close connection between urban debate and the legal profession.
The Illinois Law & Leadership Institute is a summer enrichment pilot program for students entering the 9th grade. The program is designed to increase academic aspirations by exposing students to interesting aspects of the law, and introducing them to a variety of careers in the legal field. Students will also sharpen critical reading, writing and oral advocacy skills necessary for success in high school and college.
The program will be held at John Marshall Law School, from Tuesday, June 21, 2011 through Friday, July 8, 2011 (not including the Monday, July 4th holiday). Students will also take field trips to law firms and make court visits. The program will run from 9:00 – 4:00 pm each day.
More information is available on the ILLI site.
