Coaching Confirmation

We intend to have the coach roster for returning schools finalized by June 10. Please confirm your school’s official coaches for next season prior to June 10 by email or phone to Forrest — forrestsumlar@resources.chicagodebates.org, 312-427-0524 ext.4.

The minimum commitment an official coach must make is to attend 4 of the 6 regular CDL tournaments, fulfilling the professional development standard (20 hours, 10 hours for an external coach), and attending after-school debate practice on average at least one hour per week.

District schools with only one coach are eligible to receive $2,000 less in coach stipends than district schools with two, per the Coach Stipend Allocation System. Charter schools with only one coach may not be eligible for certain types of CDC financial support, that is contingent on full participation.

If your school would like CDC assistance in identifying an external coach, let us know that as soon as possible.
