CDL Coach Training Seminar II — Saturday, 9/14, 9:00am – 3:00pm

The Chicago Debate League has its second coach training seminar of seven now scheduled for the 2013/14 season — Coach Training Seminar II — on Saturday, 9/14, 9:00am – 3:00pm, at the Loyola Law School, 25 E. Pearson St. Note that this is a special full-day coach training seminar.

This seminar will is designed for new and nearly-new coaches who were not able to attend the Foundations of Debate Coaching course over the summer. It will provide a full introduction to debate coaching, to our format of competitive academic debate, and to the Latin American Economic Engagement topic. Lunch (from 12:00pm – 12:30pm) will be provided to all participants. It is our last scheduled basic introduction to debate coaching for the year, so if you weren’t at the summer training course it is highly recommended that you attend this seminar.

Parking at lots near the Loyola Law School is $10, with validation from the lobby of the law school building (the Philip H. Corboy Center, 25 E. Pearson St.). The Loyola Law School is also right off of the Chicago stop on the CTA red line.

Registration is required. Register by Thursday, 9/12, at 3:00pm, by sending an email to register@resources.chicagodebates.org.

Attendees will earn four hours of professional development credit within the CDL system, and six hours of CPDUs.

We’ll be covering in-depth the first-year, foundational CDL Debater Development Benchmarks

We hope to see all new CDL coaches, and all coaches who wish to review the most foundational, introductory skills, techniques, and objectives of coaching debate in the Chicago Debate League.
