Judge Training Workshops — Saturday, 10/11
The Chicago Debate Commission will be offering two judge training workshops this Saturday, 10/11, at the Loyola Law School, 25 E. Pearson St., room 1001 (10th floor).
The first workshop is from 12:30pm – 2:00pm and is for all adults (college-age or up) interested in judging in either the CDL (HS) or the CMSDL (MS). CDL or CMSDL coaches who wish to be introduced or re-introduced to the very basics can register for and attend this workshop and receive 1.5 hours of CDL/CMSDL professional development credit, and 1.5 CPDUs.
The second workshop is from 2:00pm – 3:30pm and is for all high school students interested in judging in the CMSDL (MS). All high school Varsity debaters are eligible to judge in the CMSDL, and to earn a $40 stipend for each day they judge (up to $200 for the year). High school debaters who did not judge in the CMSDL last season are strongly encouraged to register for and attend this workshop. Though it is not strictly speaking a requirement, the CMSDL administration will give a hiring preference to those students who have attended a training workshop.
Parking at lots near the Loyola Law School is $10, with validation from the lobby of the law school building (the Philip H. Corboy Center, 25 E. Pearson St.). The Loyola Law School is also right off of the Chicago stop on the CTA red line.
Registration for either workshop is requested. Please ask persons interested in either of these workshops to register by Friday, 10/10, at 12:00pm, by sending an email to register@resources.chicagodebates.org.
