Summer Training Courses for Coaches

We’re excited to offer two debate coaching training courses to CDL and CMSDL coaches this summer. High school and middle school coaches are encouraged to attend one or both courses.

We encourage coaches to view this as an opportunity to get a head start on coaching the 2015-16 topic, to develop community with other CDL coaches, and to share strategies for more effectively reaching our students.

Fundamentals of Debate Coaching is strongly recommended for all new coaches — and recommended too for coaches that want a refresher or to review their foundation in the basics of debate. This 3-day course will take place on July 29, 30, and 31 at Westinghouse College Prep (3223 W. Franklin Blvd., near Kedzie Green Line) from 9:00am to 3:30pm.

Varsity Debate Coaching is recommended for all intermediate-level coaches wanting to take the next step in their understanding of more advanced, Varsity-level competitive debate strategy and arguments, including surveillance policy issues. This 3-day course will take place on August 3, 4, and 5 at Westinghouse College Prep (3223 W. Franklin Blvd., near Kedzie Green Line) from 9:00am to 3:30pm.

Courses are free to CDL coaches. CPDUs and CDL professional development credits are provided.
